That could be the case with tightly packed high power devices. However, I hadn't witnessed any temperature differences with my setup, was fan cooled in a tunnel arrangement and fairly low bias.
Funny that it happened immediately upon startup after removing a ferrite I had on the input from the very first startup as a precaution for high frequency nasties... The not preferable capacitor joint only failed after I was searching around, and wiggled it, not likely the cause, when I think about it.
That's a real bummer k-amps, figured you had it licked with multiple units working acceptably for some time now...
