Hi all,

Sorry for the slight off-topic post but I needed help from MOSFET masters.

I m building a Phase-change cooling for my computer. To test the cooling power I d like to try it on a heat load. (Not directly on the CPU). Therefore I d need a heat load that would be ajustable between 60 and 200W. I thought MOSFET would be a good try.

Could any of you, masters of the MOSFETS, draw me a quick shematic describing how I could do that ?

Thanks a lot,

Akira

The IRFP460N is rated for 280 watts. Mount both mosfets on the heatsink you are testing as the cooler. The value of R1 will need to be altered slightly because its value determines the maximum voltage which can be applied to the gate of the load mosfet. If you make it 4.3k or 3.9k, for example, you could then lower its value down to what you need by placing a high value resistor in parallel with it.
