Default hafler amp or pre-amp

Would either of these be a good candiate for improving trouble-shooting technique? Assuming they are not in working order. Any advice wellcome.

Anything not working will improve Your skills and knowledge, unsucessfull attemts allmost as much as succesfull, but not as rewarding. The Hafler units, in general, are straightforward good designs so they would make perfect objects for learning

Thanks for your advice! I thought Hafler units might be good for learning trouble-shooting.
