Unhappy Perreaux sa2

Helpppp. my Perreaux SA2 preamp suffers from RFI .What parts are usually the culprits? The volume control doesnt affect the loudness of the AM radio station I'm picking up so I figure it must be somewhere after the potentiometer.

Hi
Try to locate: Disconnect all signal sources, still there?- if so, are
both channels affected? Is the input selector grounding? if so could be broken or contaminated. There could be a broken resistor or solder joint at one input- if You get a high input impedance it tends to pick up rf. If problem with design try to find problem input by making a shorting device, rca plug shorted signal to ground, then try to decoupple input with ca 100 pF and se if rf dissapeares.

Default Perreaux rfi problem

BEAUTIFUL piece of gear!. Used to sell them back in mid 80's. I had one for a while and lived less than 1/2 mile from 3 tv xmttrs and countless radio xmttrs/no rfi problems. Please check for broken solder joints, especially down stream from volume control if it doesn't affect signal. I'd start in PS and work out from there. Have you tried disconnecting pre from power amp to see if it goes away? Might be barking up wrong tree.

Good Luck!
Lee
