Thanks, Nelson. I was hoping you would find enough interest in this topic to respond I will look for your current sourcing article, and I look forward to reading more of the zen variations. Any idea when the next one will be out?

Mr. Pass,

I would like to know your opinion about your preference of hooking one end of the cascode zener to ground or the emitter of the differential. The former seems to sound better but the latter is supposed to offer better linearity. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jam

Zen Variations part 2 will be posted at www.passdiy.com next
week, and is also going to Audio Express. Parts 3 and 4 will
follow in another week or so. All three make up the
"penultimate zen" and with part 4 there will be a PC board.

As to tracking source voltages on a cascode, we weigh the
additional complexity against the theoretical advantage of
truly constant voltage across the diff pair transistors. I
could go either way, but usually I just give the cascodes a
DC to ground reference.
