A friend asked me to see if I can fix this amp. PVS- POWER VOICE SYSTEMS pvr2402 One channel is not right. Distorted and outputs heat up within seconds of being turned on.

Looks home made!
I would locate the bias adjust presets and note their positions. rotate back and forth a few times and reset them. Power up and that may cure it. Output transistors are standard Motorola types and either work or go short circuit.
Most of the homemade stuff here looks better then this thing. It does have a HUGE transformer and the case is solid. It is very dirty. My thought was in line with yours. I'll start with a cleaning and checking of any pots.
