Well, 2000watts is rather excessive and only in extreme cases do you need this (if it has to be louder, higher efficiency speakers would be a better way to go). But 200+ is alot more reasonable.

There are numerous designs around in that wattage range, just search around a bit on the net. If it's your first time it'd probably be easier to run two smaller powered amps in bridge mode, instead of one larger amp.

As for price well, it all depends on what quality components you use, it gets really expensive when you use "audiophile" grade components, tantalum resistors, polystyrene caps, but can be very reasonable if you use high quality "normal" parts...
 
Well a simple search like "DIY 200W solid state amplifier" at google.com will give you several results. As for parts I use digikey (digikey.com), they don't have the more exotic components, but you shouldn't need to go to such lengths first time.
