So I bought this kit a while back and it has be sitting for about a year and half or so. I decided I was bored and wanted something to do so I went to work to put it together. The page states you can use a transformer from 9V up to I believe 15V with this preamp but states that 12V is best. Even on the board its printed at the voltage input area "6-0-6". They link on the auction page a transformer that is suitable, but expensive. The issue is that it calls for 6v-0-6v yet doesn't give an amp draw.
I have found a transformer locally that is priced nicely. It is a 12.6v (6.3-0-6.3) and is rated for 3A.
Does anyone with experience with this preamp know if this transformer will work well in this design? If not how many amps should I prepare for?
Thanks
Dan
