Default Hitachi Sr-903 tuning issue

Looked on Google, might be using wrong terms for search, describing issue as slop in tuning.......... So my Hitachi SR-903 when I tune it for instance channel is 99.9 but as you turn tuning knob it will stay on channel in the 97 up to 102 area.......any thoughts? The string seems to in good order...... Thanks in advance

Do you mean it won't tune at all past the 97-102 region or that there is backlash and lost motion in the tuning ?

The tuner isn't corresponding to the stations locations. So it does tune past 97-102 but whereas 102.5 will generally fall out of tune at 102.3 and 102.7 stations hang on a lot longer and aren't where they should be.. Did I confuse you too much...lol......I'm probably doing a hack job on explaining it.....sorry!

Sorry for the late reply, I missed your post.

Does the tuner have a switchable AFC button as that would cause it to hold on to a channel as you move the dial and then seem to "jump" to a close by channel ?
