i'm wondering what i can do to detect zero cross on a 120v line. i just need some sort of a pulse of some form (or inverse pulse) at the zero cross i can send off to a microcontroller.

i was thinking just a 4n25 with the AC wired to the LED, but for all my fiddling i feel no closer to success. hoping someone can point me towards a slightly better starting place.

this is going to go to some of my control circuitry for this weird idea for a hybrid switching / big huge transformer power supply i'm twiddling with.
