I had a Sony TA-5650 bought as I was a graduate. After ten years it broke down.
I than tried to repair the amp and soon discover how bad it was.
So it took some years and I found a 200W amp in "Funkschau" a German Electronic Magazine. I had the PCB made and there the problems started.
So I started from scratch, and remove every thing in the case, except the pre-amp and the switchboard. All couple elco's were replaced by MKT caps in the pre-amp.
I mounted a 1,25kVA transformer and 4 x 22000µF elco's. The funkschau amp I did modify and mounted the fets on a copper plate and than on the heat sink.
This al was a process during my divorce, now after more than 15 years the amp is ready and it sounds better than all the amps I have ever repaired through my carrier as audio technician.
The scope testing was also better than most amps.
