It's just a modification of my working amp, a humble 250W@4ohms.

Simple 100W power amp

Serious simulation cowboys ...
it's pretty obvious, the transformer size is mentioned for 4 ohms load.

This amp was my own built back in 1978 and quoted as a "monster stereo amp" in ETI-477 300 watt amp module. It had 24 output transistors 2N3055/MJ2955 in each channel and based on a highly modified set of ETI-413 modules. I basically redesigned the ETI413 100 watt amp circuit to deliver 600 watts into 2 ohms so that in bridge mode 2 modules gave me 600 watts into 4 ohms running on +/-45 volt Dc Rails. For stereo, I built 4 modules.

I also rebuilt the same basic amp a few years latter in a smaller case with half the amount of output transistors - 24x MJ15003 & MJ15004 devices ( 12 per channel ).

I'm now looking into maybe building another monster stereo amp ( or 2 mono blocks ) possibly with the new super bipolar transistors from Semelab, the MG9413K and MG6333K complementary devices. With the above amp - I had to get specially wound the 2 massive power transformers each delivering 64 volts AC @ 15 amps continuous ).

From these big amps I learn't quite a bit about amp construction and design. Unfortunately I failed to take not one photo. So many memories - so little evidence !

As for working on the Amp your interested in - NO I have not - But I've worked on Dc-Ac power Inverters which single "mono blocks" deliver up to 8,000 watts at 240 Volts Ac and have a string of power FETS extending into 50 or more in some units. In principle - these power Inverters are nothing more than a bloody big Audio Amp running at 50 cycles sine-wave ( and some square-wave ) having generally about <3% distortion - some with output transformers and others with directly coupled H-bridge arrangements.

The principles for building and testing such a beast, are not all that different from Audio. Some of these power Inverters can be coupled together for 3 phase or parallel operation extending up to 50Kw in size.

would you be kind enough to share to me some schematics of power amplifiers which delivers 500w/8ohms and/or higher output. Your 2.5K sounds good.

Class d the way to go especially with low impedance subs
