Slewmaster - CFA vs. VFA "Rumble"

Sorry Pete, glad to hear from you but you are mad😛.

Mad? Like crazy?
I was faced with physical/mental abuse after spinal surgery.
I thought my time was up. Could barely walk or tie my shoes.
No hope for physical therapy forced me to make one of the better decisions of my life.
I can walk now and have a mental clarity that I did not think possible.
Mad is good. 🙂

Positively mad - very good  😀
Great move. Brave, crazy enough, but excellent idea.

Fet slewmaster + KND Ip stage

Almost finished. Still need to finalize the face plate with oldskool Sifam DB meters. The amp sounds very good. Mid range and high frequencies are superb. I will connect it on decent speakers and see what happens.🙂

Hi Krisfr, Thanks for the nice words.🙂 It did take some time as I have read somewhere that if a hobby keeps you up at night then it becomes work !🙂
I did match everything except the kitchen fridge of the neighbor . I'm very happy ! Thanks Os , Jeff , Jason and Val for all your informative contributions. Andrew you as well.
Oh the main trannies are +-70VDC dual mono and the little torroid is just 12V for controlling the aux stuff like DC protection and on off switch led.

Dynaco stereo 120 transformers by chance? Total measured output / 8 ohms? I am going to use the Dyanco's I have to do the same😀

Nope, they are from a Pioneer Spec4 which were murdered and decimated by someone, at least the trannies and meters were spared 😀. I think they are close to 475VA, so hope to get about 150W in 8R and 200W in 4R, but it would most probably be higher.

150W into 8r0 is equivalent to 49Vpk and 6.12Apk
200W into 4r0 is equivalent to 40Vpk and 10Apk. That's -1.76dBV ref the 8ohms output.

A good 8ohms capable amplifier should be able to get at least 150% of it's 8ohms power into a 4ohms load and a very good amp should get to 180% into the 4ohms load.
You should be getting at least 225W and preferably around 270W into 4r0.
