Default minimum inout circuit for testing

I am experimenting with IPS and VAS circuits, using a function generator and o-scope.

my question is, using a very simple LTP IPS feeding a single transistor VAS, with the feed back loop being the same as it would be in a full amp, except for takeoff point being at the VAS collector, what is the minimum circuitry I can get away with to feed the function generator signal to the IPS.

I was thinking a large coupling cap, followed by a 1 meg resistor to ground for reference purposes, and then straight into the IPS. Other than maybe some sort of RF shunting cap, would this be fine? I just want bare bones so I can concentrate on the VAS and IPS. Obviously a more developed input circuit would be used in a working amp.

Any problem here? I assume I can't get by with less than that.

That sounds right. The collector of the single transistor VAS would be the correct polarity for giving negative feedback to inverting input of the LTP.
