Default Using a Variac as main transformer in DIY amplifier

I need some input on using a 5 amp/120V Variac as the main transformer in power supply for a DIY amplifier.

If the variac is just a multi-tapped autotransformer, absolutely not!

Variacs provide NO isolation from the mains. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT
