Thanks for the reply's you all,
I found an easy circuit, I've tested it and it works fine ! Circuits Online - Schakelingen - VU meter It seems to work from the line inputs.

Hallo all. I have used this circuit before on VU meters and it works fine. But now I have Sifam db meters that I want to use and this circuit adjusted on max can only drive them a third of their full scale. The resistance of the new meters are 5.5 Ohm. Any Ideas how to improve this circuit to drive them to full scale will be appreciated.

I built it just yesterday.
one thing though, i get 2.2vdc on the meter connectors without any signal going through, maybe there is a problem with the schematic.

I have build Rods's circuit on perforated board, works great !
Remenber to short the inputs when testing without an actual input signal.

I built Prasi version and face the 1.5-2.2vdc on meter outputs. Do you have any DC voltage on the outputs?
