Default Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs and BJTs available now !

Maybe this was posted before but here are some links to manufacturers of SiC devices:

SiC MOSFETs:

http://www.cree.com/power/landing-pages/mosfet

SiC BJTs:

SiC BJTs - Silicon Carbide Technology

The latter ones don't seem to have publicly available datasheets, but you can request them online.

So, new things to play with for audio amplifiers designers, eh ?

So, nobody is interested in these ?
I think the BJTs might be especially interesting for audio amplifiers.

These products seem aimed at switching power applications; with a high bandgap voltage I think they'd require a lot of biasing to operate in a linear mode. Maybe better than IGBTs? Can't tell if they're available in complementary pairs. Do seem to be rugged, as you'd expect from silicon carbide.

use forum Search, forum Google search - parts have been bought, amps built, parts discontinued, EOL buys...

Semisouth goes Dodo ; what now ?

jcx - Semisouth is gone but Cree is still here.

fireworks - if you get a datasheet for the BJT please post it.

I have bought 4 SJEP120R063A and made various experiments with it. The characteristic is closer to triode. Modern MOSFETs are much more linear. For me there is no good reason using SICs for the analog signal processing.
Maybe if you search the Tube Sound with Solid States ...

Edit: Seriously, I'm thinking of using SICs in Class-D.

It will be interesting to see what Infineon comes up with since Semisouth obviously wont be producing the line of SiC JFETs it was aiming specifically at high end audio.

I really can't believe any of these guys would invest in analogue hi end audio, the market must be tiny. I have the perception that the reproduction chain is not limited by available good quality amplifiers, their cost being a function of marketing rather than the performance of the output devices.
