Oh dear! Hifi, not hifi, 0.05%! I have basically been called an idiot for saying damping factor matters and how it reduces midrange distortion but oh well! It seems though as I continue to read through diyaudio my understandings are proven in many very subtle ways but nobody will listen, this is hifi after all!

I like triple zero distortion figures and I don't think it's too extremely hard to achieve with what I'm working on.

However lineup I like your circuits especially the 36V TMC amp!

Hi Guys

Does nobody read carefully anymore?

Of course damping factor matters. The fact low or high DF alters the sound demonstrates clearly that it is relevant. The fact is that high-DF is better than low and fractional DF. This can be proven very easily, but those who like low-DF don't care and are entitled to their own opinion.

The bulk of speakers are designed and tested with and for amps with high-DF. It is expected that the reproducing amp will be more like a voltage source than a current source. So, for general speaker design and system design, high-DF is assumed.

Specific speaker designs and apps are matched to ultra-low-DF current-source output amplifiers. These are a distinct minority.

Triple-zero THD will "suggest" that most distortions are low including IMD, but the number does not tell you the profile of distortion.

Have fun

I see I am a bit wrong, if we are to believe these postings
of Wahab, Boscoe, Struth who tend to agree that Damping factor matters.
This is nothing I can see when testing in simulator with pure resistance.
So I have Damping Factor = 1.
It is not what we want,
but this thread is about Simplest of the Simple approach to amplifying with transistor.

So, if you do not want it simple you should look elsewhere.
If you stay you can have a fun project.

Let's have a look at my working circuit.
I can see how the gain of the amplifier
is highly dependent of the Impedance of the Speaker.
This is very low damping factor.

We can now say that DF96 was right.
He tells us it is not Hifi.
I kow see what he mean.

But it is a fun project, and not Hifi.

If somebody wants, I will post the full circuit.
For all those not concerned with Hifi.
That can think of building something just for FUN.

lineup,
I'd like to see the full circuit.
Thank you.
