Hello, I have this Pioneer receiver/amp which has two, large 8200uF, polarized electrolytics on the main board. Both have a noticeable crown at the top, but there is a fiber disk covering the top which was shrink wrapped in tight.
I was wondering if it is a no-brainer they have seen their better days, or if that kind of package normally has a crown. The unit is from the 1980s. All the other caps are good and the unit plays very well. Any comments welcome. |

The plastic cap can bulge, with the actual cap not bulging. Press down on the top. If you can push it in, your fine, otherwise the cap is bulged.

I was wondering what detrimental effect the reduction in value would have. I do not know what specific purpose they serve. I assume DC power stabilization. |
