Default Main Filter caps upgrade ?

Is there a benefit in replacing main filter caps to boutique capacitors ? Will i get the same quality of sound as long as the caps are good? What would I expect if i upgrade to better caps ?

Do you mean mains filter caps, or PSU reservoir caps?

They are the PSU reservoir caps. If they are old then changing them may improve the sound. If you pay a lot of money for the replacements then you will hear an improvement, and after you have told them how much you paid then your friends may hear an improvement too.

I like DF's reply.

If I was unsure about the old capacitors in the PSU, I may be tempted to replace them with standard commercial grade capacitors from reputable manufacturers as a first step to seeing if spending any more money could be worth while.
