Default Bad things about using a CC output stage besides inefficiency?

I'm not new to electronics but I am new to audio amp design so bare with me.

Say I wanted to build a very simple amp with about 12db gain to drive 6-8 ohms, is there really any downside to building a CE amp with a CC output stage, noise or distortion wise? Yes it will be inefficient and will require large heatsinks, but other than that are there any properties I need to look at?

Also, another question, do I need to be concerned with the accuracy of current mirrors using discrete parts? I've only really done IC design so I don't know what the issues are with matching discrete transistors. Obviously I would want to play the devices physically close and on the same heatsink, but anything else I need to look at?
