Thot I would start a new thread on the build and construction of the new Doug Self's pre-amp as published in Elektor. This is intended primarily for construction, build techniques, and enclosure topics. Be sure to include lots of pictures!
![]() I've started it with a series of PCB pics - both empty and populated. More to follow as I embark on putting this all into a custom case.

Very nice redjr! Looks like a big project but no doubt worth the effort.

Looks great...are those boards commercially available?
Do you know how this amp compares to others in the DIY community? |

Yes. They are available from Elektor. I do not know how it compare to others. There's another thread that's been started for a few months now that discusses it's design with Doug Self's original Precision Pre 96.

Yes, that is the plan. It will take some time, since I haven't even decided on a suitable enclosure yet. Plus, there are many internal interconnects that need to be custom made to length using the proper type of wire - control vs signal. Some will need to be shielded, while others can be simply twisted pair.

This must be good. I certainly trust Doug Self. Looks expensive, though. How much have you spent on all these parts?

It does look expensive and that's just looking at all the sockets and connectors etc. I always find that they cost way more then I'd like them too!
