Amplifier heat, simple quetion

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, so please answer with that in mind.

I have an IPod, that is feeding a small boombox. The woofer has a plate amp but the mid/tweet is run off a little Lepai. There is no ventilation for the Lepai. Is there any difference to the heat gain of the amp if the input is adjusted from the iPod? ie: Should I increase/decrease the input from the iPod and adjust it at the pot of the Lepai or is it the same result (heat) for the same overall volume?

Hi Cal,

I think it's very much "same volume, same heat". There seem to be a few different models of Lepai mini-amp, but assuming what you've got is a Class-D switching amp, it might well be more-or-less as simple as "same heat" regardless even of volume.
