There is also the Lang Class A amp from "Audio Electronics" (formerly known as "The Audio Amateur" when the project appeared. I think their web site still lists the PCB for sale. The TO3 metal case lateral Hitachi MOSFETs are no longer produced though. You could do a little surgery to use some of the TO3P or TO247 plastic package lateral MOSFETs from Hitachi or Toshiba.

It's a commercial kit, not a project. A PP 20W class AB amp (10W class A) without loop feedback.
I just had one in for review, and it is indeed a very sweet but powerful and solid performer. http://www.audio.nl/speca18.html

The upcoming Zen with an active current source
will reach those levels. Should be out in 3 weeks. |

It depends which one(s) you are interested in. There are a number of different Class-A designs on my website ranging from the Hiraga 'Le Monstre' at 4Wrms into 8ohm to Stan Curtis' 60W circuit. I haven't built them all, but can recommend the JLH Class-A which has been highly regarded for the past 30 years and is still generating very favourable comments from new constructors. Geoff |
