Plate amp mod
 

Hello all,I don't know if this is the right section of the forum for this thread or not.I have an old subwoofer plate amp that I'd like to use for powering a pair of stage monitors for vocals and guitars.I can bypass the crossover by using the LFE input and run it full range(doesn't have the best extreme high Frequency response, but will work for the intended purpose) I'm going to remove the high level binding posts and add my xlr and 1/4" jacks in there location and just parallel the xlr input to the LFE input on the board.Here's where I need help anyone have any idea of the limiting resistor I'd need inline to drop the signal level. It's designed for consumer -4Dbv and my input will be pro level +10Dbv

Consumer level is -10 and pro is +4.
Why not just put a volume control on the input?

Guess I got my levels mixed up should be -10Dbv for consumer and +4Dbv for pro level.Any way I need to get to for +4Dbv down to -10Dbv

It does have an input pot I just figured it would still over drive it,or have a very limited range of adjustment.Guess maybe I should have tried it first.

That's what I would do. It may work just fine.

The correct pro-audio level is +4 dBu not 4dbV!

Correct. I remember when the pro level was +8 dBm ... back in the vacuum tube days.
