Question Supply rail tracks / wires

Can anyone provide a full explanation of the necessary properties of supply rail connections (from smoothing caps in the supply to the actual amplifier circuit, either by PCB track or wire)?

I am aware of how important it is for the amp to see a low impedance, so it gets what it needs when it asks for it.

However, I would like to be able to work out (obviously with knowledge of the amp's PSRR) what one can get away with in terms of impedance of the connection, particularly when using cable, and at what point one gets into a state of diminishing returns (thick wires are awkward physically).

I am also a bit puzzled by PSRR. This is often quoted as "good", "not good" or a number of dB. Presumably it is highly dependent on frequency of the audio signal.

Thanks in advance.

I have some readings for you :

And

And the opamp design guide :

Try the last one first.

Thanks for these Sonny. Very useful, particularly the last one. These will pre-empt a lot of questions!
