As far as I understood gate-to-gate voltage of 2SK1058/2SJ162 should be around 3v. And this is in range of specs for LME4981.

3V when passing no output current.
When substantial output current is passed, the Gate to gate voltage is very much higher. This is due to the low transconductance of the Lateral FETs.

When high output current is used for the comparison, you will find that VFETs and LFETs have a similarly high gate to gate voltage requirement.

BJTs in this high current scenario do not require anywhere near those as base to base voltages. That's why the 830 was designed specifically for mosFETs in the output stage.
