Hello all,
I have an Audiolab 8000P for repair, and the schematics. The opamp in question is a DC servo, with -3dB point set by 3M9 + 470nF, or well under 1Hz. |

Hi Murphy,
I dunno exactly at what price the things come in OZ, but if you go for huge investment relatively to the DCX value, the price of 6 Burson is finally not so far from the price of 6 good output trafos. |

I want to experiment with replacing the LM4562's in the Didden i/o board with Burson Discretes..?? I would need to tap +/-15v straight from the power supply (Didden linear PS) for them to function properly.. I enjoy the remote volume too much these days to think about trafos anymore.. Ta CM |

Dear All, I want to share also in this thread my experience:
I changed in my deeply modified Luxman L-210 (yes, you can move this small amp to high-end ) the IC opamp to Burson's dual Opamp as well. Now this part of the Luxman is true high end as well ! However you have to take care that the Burson is embedded in the right electronic environment. This seems to be also in this Forum not always being realized and therefore Burson's potentials is not really exploited. Acc. manufacturers information the Burson Single and Dual Opamp shall be operated between 12-25 V and min 19mA, but Burson informed me on my request that ideal supply is at 50 mA. In my Luxman I changed therefore in the phonostage (all caps already changed to top-end quality elko, films and micas) the zenerdiodes for stabilized voltage supply from 18V to 22V (higher voltage is normally better for sound ) and more important changing the resistor from 2,7K to 330ohm to increase current supply to ~ 50 mA. I also checked with ~ 30mA but with ~ 50mA 3-D image further improved. Generally the sound is fantastic, smooth "tube-like" trebles, new details from vinyl, you do not want to finish listening...breathtaking. A real IC killer but you must adjust the electronics around to take full advantage. ~ € 65,- for one dual opamp is then the cheapest highend investment ever ! (I want to mention that f.e. such a listening session the Luxman is powering a Precide Kithara LS and I have for A/B comparison f.e. my Airtight STM-1 tube, STudio Monitors and other gadgets... )Cheers Goetz

Strangely, I have selected for my first DIY the unambitious swap out of a TL072 op amp with the Burson (unplug/plug in) in a Keces HA-171 headphone amp. My first HA and I would like to see if a simple upgrade such as this will make a significant difference. I am not much of an audiophile and even less so an electronic expert, but really enjoy music and have over the last several years learned that quality equipment adds vastly to the pleasure.
As my second post, I will post my listening impressions from the viewpoint of only a technically challenged music lover. I hope you all will find it refreshing, albeit naive. Cheers, B |

I have 3 Burson dual IC's that I will install in my Didden active i/o.. Even just using them (briefly) with the available +/- 9v had a positive effect on SQ.. I am waiting delivery of a low noise mic-preamp power supply kit, capable for +/- 9 to 24volts @ 800mA.. Then I will modify the Burson adapter to be powered via this power supply instead of being powered via the Didden i/o board.. Someone posted THD+N graphs of the Burson Modules being powered at +/- 6, 18, 24 volts,, and interestingly enough, best (lowest) THD+N was +/-18v,, so I will set my supply to 18v Cheers.. CM |

Hi Erlend, I am one of the engineers for SonicImageryLabs. I can tell you we use 0603, 0.1% thin film resistors. There is only one in the audio path and a 1206 0.1% thin film in the output driver. The others are in the current mirrors, loads and CC current sources.
