Ok started a new thread because the other one was soo old. Ok here's my problem. Just picked up this amp. brought it home and found this. Channel A seems to be perfect. But channel B seems have a issue. When a relatively low signal is applied the channel sounds ok. but as more signal is applied the clipping light comes on relatively quick and starts to sound rough around the edges. With even more signal applied the amp goes into protect. as soon as the drive is reduced the amp comes out of protect and continues to play.
whats going on?

Do you have a scope?
Been years since I owned a Crest VS900 power amp. You need to look at the front end of the amplifier. I believe there is a 5532 op amp in the front end. That is where I would start. I believe that when I took a good hard look at the one I had my supply feeding the op amp had a problem that I corrected and it worked fine after that. |
