Pre-out to miniDSP and back to receiver power amp

How do you "configure" and integrated amp with pre-out to a miniDSP used as an active crossover. Then feed the miniDSP LF signals back into the power amp section (to woofers) and HF signals to an external power amp (to tweeters).

The amplifier I'm using is a Cyrus 8vs2. Does it have jumpers or internal contacts so that when RCA connector is plugged into the pre-out, the contacts open seperating the pre out and main in? Thus if jumpers are removed or rewired with additional main-in RCA plugs these would take LF into the integrated amp.

The reason is to only have to build/buy one new stereo power amplifier (and the 8vs2 is a good pre-amp and power-amp).

It may also be possible for the pre-amp to be operational in the following mode. However this is not clear. If that is the case the miniDSP would pretend to be a multi-channel surround sound decoder (taking its input from the pre-out), 2-way cross over between HF/LF, control volume and balance between LF (fed back into main-in) and HF (fed into an external power amp).

From the Cyrus 8vs2 manual:
"Connecting a Surround Sound decoder (other brand)
If your system includes a multi-channel surround sound decoder (but not a Cyrus model), it may be connected through your amplifier to drive the front channel speakers. In this case, connect a stereo phono interconnect from the front channel outputs of the surround decoder to one of the Analogue Inputs of the amplifier. For this system to function correctly, the ‘AV Direct’ input name must be set for the input used (see ‘Input names’ in the ‘Setup menu’ section).

When set up in this way, the amplifier will automatically lock its volume setting to a fixed level to match the output of the surround decoder. CAUTION: The ‘AV Direct’ input name should only be used for surround decoders that include a volume control, as the volume control of your amplifier will be fixed at a very high level."

Cyrus support response

The following is part of response from a Cyrus support rep:

"To enable AV Direct on an 8VS2 you need to hold down the AV and Standby key simultaneously as power is applied to the unit, either from the rocker switch on the rear of the unit or the mains supply. Keep the buttons depressed until the lights have finished going back to front on the unit. Now when you select the AV input, the volume is disabled and the amplifier is now at full volume. The light on the volume control will be fixed at around 2.00 on the dial."

When this input is in AV Direct mode it is a straight through and disables volume control on the 8VS."

This sets it at full volume! Therefore an attenuator after (or part of) the active crossover is required (before signal fed back in to the power amp "section").
