I have two old bookshelf size speakers and a subwoofer from a 2.1 system with a broken amp. I'm looking for a new, decent quality 2.1 amp with bass frequency cutoff control for 100$ish, maybe up to 200$. It doesn't need to be super powerful. Any recommendations?

I would use www.partsexpress.com model # 300-771 MCA22502.1
2.1 amp $ 98 dollars. They are sold out till Feb, but this is your best bet. Hope this helps, Mason |

Any 3 channel power amp gives you the basics
You can then add on filtering and/or EQ to get to where you want.

Is the bass-amp built into the sub-woofer box, because you then need to make some sneaky modifications other than just adding plain three amps.
