Default Twin mono by combining stereo outputs

I want to tap a stereo signal and mix it to mono to run two speakers which have their own half of a stereo amp. Without a suitable line level buffer (at least for a couple of days), how does bridging the amp outputs with resistance sound for a partial fix?

Build a 2 channel mixer and connect this to the poweramp. How does that sound?
