Hi diyaudio Forum
I have got a Arcam Alpha 5 Amp [ build 1993 ] with 3 latching push switches from ALPS. These push switches are old an defekt and make horrible noise and channel problems while pushing. After some research I have found that the ALPS SPUN series will match. SPUN Series - Products Line My question is: Which SPUN switches from ALPS will the best for original replacement. They have got two kinds one with 0,1 A and a one with 1A Rating (max.) SPUN191400 [ 0,1 A ] SPUN192600 [ 1 A ] Which one should i choose ? Assuming these are just source or signal routing switches, there's no requirement to use heavy, probably wider contact faces for uA currents. In fact less metal is better, to minimise capacitive coupling and possibly give higher unit area pressure, since the contact resistances are the the same.
It may make no odds but a 3x MTBF spec. for the low current type may tell you what to expect here, By the way, have you solvent cleaned and lubricated these before deciding they were no good? An aerosol with tube adaptor can work wonders - for a reasonable time.
