Hello, I am trying to drive my minimus-7 monitor speakers with something better than these cheap IC amplifiers. Size is an issue, trying to squeeze the circuit into a small box with not so BIG heatsink (mayby with a fan too)
Would you recommend the next schematics? Or what else? 3 - 5 Watt Class-A Audio Amplifier Circuit Diagram | Circuit and Wiring Diagram http://projectcircuit4u.blogspot.com...amplifier.html The power is quite low but the transistors are small too, which make the amplifier quite small in size.

Follow the thread with regard to JLH 10 watt class A, it is a proven design and well liked amplifier. You can scale it down to 5 watt if that is what you need.

Class A SE is inherently wasteful and it is the worst choice possible if heatsinks have to be kept small.
But for class A (not SE), the JLH is indeed probably the best alternative regarding the performance/complexity ratio. If you are in stereo, you can try my trick of the SE regulator chip amp: it has a slightly improved efficiency compared to a regular SE.
