For protect I suggest this circuit with NE555 and 30A 12V relay.
I haven't pcb design for this circuits.

R318, R418 can be replaced with 1k pot to set limit level (1,5v).

Yes, low cut filter can be removed, and there is no balanced input on this circuit.
