Hi all
At the moment I am building a set of nearfield monitors based on the audience A3 3" full range driver. I am at the moment researching for the amplifier. What I am looking for is a clean / neutral /detailed sounding amplifier. Since it are nearfields, I do not need an enormous amount of watts, the speakers are really close to my ears. The A3 drivers are however 12 Ohm, so the amp must be able to handle that. I am not sure yet if there will be a subwoofer added (it is likely though), so it would be nice if the amp could work in a 2.1 configuration, sharing the psu with the subwoofer. At the moment Iam testing the driver with a premium LM387 kit from audio sector. I am very happy with that amp in my home hifi system, but maybe there are more suitable amps for dedicated monitoring duties? Bugetwise, I am thinking about 200-300 Euro for the amplifier parts. + PSU (excluding the subwoofer amp) Looking forward to your input and suggestions! Kind regards Erik |
