Good day,
I reckon, Class A amp power requirement will not as critical as class B/AB... (Is it a wrong thinking?) Would it be acceptable to power Class A amp with SMPS power supply? Thanks, David |

Any amp can be powered with a SMPS. As with a standard supply, you need to have low a ripple and noise output. With the SMPS that stuff tends to be at higher frequenzy though (@200kHz). E

By definition class A has zero PSU ripple rejection, so it'll have to be a really good SMPS. On the other hand the power supply is going to live an easier life because unlike class AB the load is fairly constant.
