Threshold Fet 2 Series 2 preamp

Guys:
Here is a question I am hoping someone can help me to answer:
I picked up a Fet 2 S2 preamp,& it sounds fantastic with CDs & even my FM tuner.
Here is my issue:
The MM Phono input sound varies greatly from LP to LP,depending on what I play. Some LP's sound great while others sound quite rolled-off & muffled.
The Jazz LP's I play sound great,but most of the Rock LP's do not. This is discouraging,as I have a LOT of Rock LP"s.
Am I doing something wrong?It would seem to me that if there were any parts that needed replacing in the Phono Stage,all the LPs would sound terrible.
All the switches on the rear of the preamp are set correctly...
I'm using a Rega P-3/24'table with a AT 95 HE Stylus.

Maybe something in the RIAA equalization circuit has gone bad, such as a capacitor. Just a guess.

It may not be a "problem" with your amp!!
If it only occurs on certain records then it may be the mixing and mastering you are hearing.
If your new pre is revealing detail you never noticed before you could be hearing poor quality compressed recordings on your rock where the engineer has gone for loudness and bass boom over quality & depth.
