Exclamation Metempsychosis of a NAD

Hello All,

Few years back, I got myself a NAD AV713 while bartering few of my used stuff. This AV713 was almost like a give-away as it had been struck by lightening spike previously. The previous owner, then sent it to rather a ingenious friend of his, who bypassed the power -supply fuse and standby mechanism and few other functionality. It seems like the tuner section along with front panel switches also suffered the consequences. So finally, after all the hacking, it became an integrated amplifier with a dead-tuner section, with dead surround channels and a non-responsive front panel switches. All the sources also seem to have mapped wrongly on the OSD. So an OSD display "Tuner'" will actually select "CD input"(as no Tuner), CD will select AUX in etc...

Anyway to cut the story short, I like the sound of this NAD. It sounds in fact better than the NAD302 Amplifier I have. So I was just thinking, about re-capping and may be try and possibly move the main board and power transformer to a new Aluminium cabinet as a "power amp only" section, with just one input. I know I will lose the convenience of the remote by doing it... But the big question is, do you think, such transmigration of the power section is likely doable?

If I sell it I may get $30 for it...So spending close to another $100 for chassis/case and other accessories may not be make much economical sense I know... Still... What do you guys think?

As usual, your replies are really appreciated.
Thanks
Ron
