i have built a quad 405 clone drivers are tip 42c do i need to heatsink ? if so can i use to220 ind clip on heatsinks and not on main heatsink with output devises .i have only recently gone back to diy after 40 yrs then it was tetrodes and pentodes ect so i am rusty regards solid state any and all advise appreciated bernard

I don't think clip-on heatsinks will be sufficient. See the other recent heatsink threads. You'll probably need a main heatsink to get the required low thermal resistance. I sometimes use 2 smaller heatsinks and bolt them front and back of the tab, but it seems you'd be very fortunate to get away with that here.
