End Millenium bias adjustment modification?
Last year I purchased two used End Millenium modules (NOT the actual XP version!), and one of them has been in use in my system for a long time as a mono bass amplifier, running from a 46 V supply (33 - 0 - 33), with separated supply 36 - 0 - 36 supply for the driver transistors.
I have so far never adjusted the bias and DC offset, since the former owner of those modules told me that he'd already done that.
Just now I've measured, and got a reading of about 0.5 V for bias! According to the LC Audio manual, I should set it to 20 mV for 4 ohms, so that is quite a difference!
But the problem is, the lowest setting I can achieve via the pot is 0.3 V = 300 mV. I could adjust DC offset to about 4 mV, but still bias is way too high.
Now I remember having read about a small modification to those amp modules, if one was not able to set bias correctly, but I can't find it again (not on LC Audios website, not at the former German distributor, not via Google).
And my e-mail to LC Audio hasn't been answered so far (one week ago).
So, does anyone else here have some suggestions? Or should I just leave it at that high setting (I don't think so!)?
