Default Denon DRA-685 NO POWER

Hey all,

A friend brought over his broken DRA-685 tonight and there is no power. He said he thinks its stopped working after a thunderstorm...possibly a lightning strike...

Anyway, fuses are fine. I noticed that the Power connector is two pronged (no ground).

There is continuity on hot plug spade to both fuses and transformer primary winding, but no continuity on the Neutral power spade to the other transformer primary connection. It appears the neutral leg is switched on by a relayed circuit...

I have read that these Denons have all sorts of problems, including no power at all...

Anyway, I am thinking of jumpering the power neutral to the transformer primary (bypassing the switching) to see if it will come up... any ideas?

Hi John - you can download a service manual from here - DENON DRA-685 Service Manual free download, schematics, eeprom, repair info for electronics

Check around the net for more info. I don't have any experience with Denon's - sorry.

In the lower portion of the screen you should see an image of the pdf 1st page. To the right of that should be the words "get manual" - click on get manual phrase in what looks to be a sort of burnt red or brown color.

Hey john65 - your welcome! Perhaps I should have mentioned that little quirk - I had the same problem when I 1st downloaded stuff from 'em - but I'm so familiar with it by now that I forgot to mention it.

Hope the manual helps!!
