Default question

is it possible that you can power a 200 watts mosfet amplifier with a switching mode power supply even without battery?

I assume you are asking because often switch mode power supplies are used in car audio applications running off a 12V battery. There is no reason a switch mode supply running off mains cannot be used to power a 200W amp provided the power supply is designed to provide the required voltage and current.

edit: not being experienced in such things I would add the caveat that noise might need to be considered and would probably be more or less of an issue depending on the PSRR of the particular amp.

Tony.

I recommend buying twice the number of watts the amplifier is rated at.
