I have in my lab a Krell KSA-300S for repair/restore. It switched on, then clicks a few times, an the back to standby, owner reportet a small smoke signal from the back of right channel board. Investigation showed, that a cap. (C24) had a leak, and electrolytic fluid shorted a track leading to anode D12! So i decide to clean, and recap. the entire amp. but it still presents the same behavior: it sucks in a lot of power charging the main caps. and the cicks a few times with the small relays, and the back to st.by Removing/disconnecting the right channel, the amp powers up and works fine on left channe alone. I think some problems persists in the bias setting system, but this amp is not straight forward for reverse engeneering, (there is a microcontroller and its sofware involved). Does anyone have experiance wit this unit, or is anyone able to provide a schematic? Any hint or clue is much appreciated |
