I am willing to build an external 5.1 amplifier, quite probably discrete, to serve two purposes:
1) Listening to music with a directly connected DAC. 2) Watching 5.1 films from DVD, Bluray and satellite receiver. The first application is quite straightforward, as it just involves a stereo switch and a stereo pot. The question gets complicated when having to control levels and selecting sources each with six RCA outputs at the same time, which is what you can get from any DVD or BD player. I would prefer to use a mechanical switch to select sources, instead of a chip where the signal gets through. Is there any affordable multi-channel switch with at least 4 positions or more? Which one? For the audio levels I could find an Alps 6-gang pot, and I wonder if there's any other. Motorized option is mandatory. Carlos |
