Default Use a shielded connector?

I am planning to use a stereo cable as an input to my amp and they come in sheilded and unshielded variety, which should I be using?

If my PCB isnt shielded in any way can a shielded connector do anything?

a)Use shielded (and possibly twisted pairs) interconnect cables (I personally like microphone cables such as Bedea 7502BG).
shielded connector does perfectly nothing. Insted of that, shield case.;-)

Depends on the impedance of the source.
If it is the output from a preamp then its likely to be low impedance in which case a shielded cable isnt going to make much difference.

output is from an MP3 player so i guess that has a headphone amp, I assume thats low(er) impedance.

It can't hurt to use the shielded cable. It may even help, depending on the environment (strength of EM fields) and length of cable. If the cost difference is not big, go with shielded.
