There is always faked of these.
No matter if they are called MJL3281, NJW3281, 2SC5200 or whatever.
Better to pay a little extra from a trusted source/seller.
eBay, private sellers and such are a no-no!

Most ON semi fab plants are in Japan/Malaysia. Just about all EBAY ON listings for NJW -NJL -MJL are shipped from china. BEWARE !

Agreed, power transistors from eBay are just not worth the risk. Stick to the official distributors like Farnell, Mouser, Digikey etc... and if you only need a very small amount of them, try the samples programme.

I did have a look at the samples programme at onsemi, the 3281's were sampleable, the 1302's were not

Oh well the 4281/4302 combo is, but their "free" samples arent very "free"

Unlike others i've sampled from, on-semi charge you shipping.

But i guess 14 dollars shipping for 5 of each is better than the 100 dollars + shipping i'd pay for the same amount from farnell or other distrubitor.

Now which boardhouse is cheapest ?

The TIP35/36C's in my prototype are chinese ones from ebay, so far they havent failed.

You can also look at Fairchild who have their "Fairchild Direct" site which allows you to buy devices directly from them. They have pretty much a full complement of transistors from small signal to VAS and drivers. Excellent stuff.

Mouser ships only via FedEx, which means, don't expect cheap shipping. I would choose Digi-key because they have at least USPS Priority Mail option.

Edit: I got my 2,5lbs (0,99 kg) package from Digi-Key, USA to Croatia for $54 USD.

For my country they ship for free, if the order is more than 150Euro. So we do group buy, in almost every month.
