Default Looking for info on amplifier kit

Hi forummembers!

Encouraged with my success of assembling a TDA7377 car amp, I want to step it up (a bit).

I found this kit on eBay, but not much more info om what output to expect:
Current-mode power amplifier K170/J74 C5200/A1943 HIFI - eBay, Parts Accessories, Amplifiers, Home Audio, Consumer Electronics. (Eindtijd 03-jun-11 16:39:25 CEST)

Is anybody familiar with these kits, or this seller?
I have a 330VA 35+35V toroid transformer on the shelf with nothing to power and was wondering if I could use it to power the kit mentioned above, in combination with this:
Amplifier power supply pcb component/ DIY - eBay, Parts Accessories, Amplifiers, Home Audio, Consumer Electronics. (Eindtijd 03-jun-11 16:39:25 CEST)

I did email the seller for more info, but haven't received a reply sofar.

Hope someone can shed some light on these kits.

Regards, Jan.

Oh boy, this doesn't bode well...

Plenty of hits and nobody has some information for me...?

A link to a similar kit that will work with my 35 + 35V (<50V after rectifying) transformer would be also an option.

Regards, Jan.

Hi Jan,

I'm not familiar with the kits in question but the capacitors in the PSU kit is only rated for 50 VDC and with a 35+35 VAC transformer you should use 63 VDC rated capacitors.

Default Buyer beware

Perhaps no one is replying because no one has heard of this company. There are plenty of amplifier kits from well-known companies like Twisted Pear, ChipAmp.com, and AmpsLab.

I agree, a nice torroid with nothing to power is a sad thing indeed

To be brutally honest, beware of Chinese eBay amplifier kits. While some are good, a lot of them are also based upon stolen commercial designs, and sold with fake or substandard components. $22 sets my alarm bells ringing.

Thanks for your reply gents!

I stumbled across this seller while searching for a 12V amp to power the start sequence for the electrospeed boatraces I'm involved in and found this kit:
TDA7377 Car Amplifier kit /DIY - eBay, Parts Accessories, Amplifiers, Home Audio, Consumer Electronics. (Eindtijd 01-jun-11 15:52:48 CEST)
It came completely assembled, all I had to do was complete the external wiring and hook up a power supply and it works like a charm.

So, jaycee, it seems I've been lucky, at least this time..., Let's see how it holds up over time.
As I have the transformer at hand and nothing to power, the amp in the link seems like a possibility.
However, it looks as if the output is too low for my intended purpose, which is to power a Dipole sub with a single Monacor SPA15200 8 Ohm speaker.
My current plate amp is too light with 150W (8Ohm) to compensate for the low efficiency of this type of speaker housing.

My guess is I'll need at least 300W in 8Ohm to let the sub play at a level where it can keep up with my front speakers.

Maybe I'll order a pair of the amps and power supplies to see what quality these kits are and use a lower voltage to power them, perhaps I'll end up with a nice stereo amp at a (relative) bargain.

Bugger, I'll need some pre-amps aswell ,don't I?
This seller has those too...

Regards, Jan.
