Default Citronic CPA300

I couldn't find any reviews for this amp after a quick google search.
The Reason i have Brought this amp was to power 4 X Polk Audio Rt15i Book Shelf Speakers. They are 4ohms Each and i am going to be running them in 2 pairs at 8Ohms. It is getting a preamped feed from my DENON PMA-700AE

The Quality of build seems to be OK See attached pictures.
Good heat sink and fans, OK transistors by Toshiba, Good sized power supply, Quiet with no Hums even with the gains at 3/4.

Here are the advertised Specs
Power 150 watt x 150 watt @ 4 ohm
This range of compact power amplifiers are capable of delivering their true power output, giving a professional sound quality for exceptional value.
  • Genuine RMS output per channel into 4 ohms
  • Outstanding sound quality
  • Front panel LED illumination
  • Balanced line inputs (XLR and 6.3mmŲ jack) and link outs (XLR)
  • Speakon® speaker sockets
  • Active clip limiter internally configurable between max and off
  • Dual 10-segment LED VU displays
  • Class AB Mosfet output stage
  • Fan cooling
  • DC thermal and short circuit protection
  • 2U 19" rack mountable
  • Designed in the UK
Power supply 230Vac, ± 10% 50-60Hz
Damping factor Better than 150
Frequency response 20Hz - 20kHz ±0.5dB
Input impedance : Balanced 20k ohms
Input sensitivity 775mV / 0dBu
Signal to noise ratio Better than 95dB
THD @ rated <0.02% @ 1kHz

In the Manual that came with the amp it says
150W RMS X2 @4Ohms
100W RMS X2 @8ohms
300W RMS Mono @ 8Ohms

Will update when it has pushed all four speakers at their peak for a few hours.

They probably say MOSFET because some pro's are of the impression "MOSFET" = the best. Total rubbish of course.

Haha They are defiantly not MOSFETS .
So i hooked my Denon PMA-700AE up to my iPhone through the 3.5mm jack into AUX input and my Spinner on the CD input of Course. I set the gains up on the CPA300 using the CD and they were at about 3/4 with the DENON volume at 11:30.
It was Pretty damn Load but i thought they should be able to push the speakers alot harder.
I then flicked to my iPhone had the volume at full on that and some high quality tracks and it was no where as loud. (As you can tell Loudness is the Big Factor in this Setup though these speakers are amazingly clear)

So then i started thinking what is the Pre output from my amp like mV Wise.
After a quick Google i found the Denon Manual.
Pre Amplifier Section
Equalizer Amplifier OUTPUT 150 mV (I'm taking this is the output i am Talking about as there is only one)
Input Sensitivity is 105mV on all of the inputs except Phono

Then looking at the Manual i got with the power amp it says
(Input Sensitivity for Full rated Power at 4Ohms 775mV

So im thinking i am best to Ditch using my Denon amp or keep using it and adding a Mixer like this one? In the system somewhere?
Surplustronics - Citronic Pro 2 Mixer

Your thoughts?

Otherwise so far the amp has no hum or noise when there is no input hasn't seemed to get that hot as the cooling system though this one is average as it runs full speed all the time, but the flow of air over the heat sink works very very well.
Received a good hour run last night at full noise with Dire Straits.

Cheers Stew

Hello stewdaddy, nice and neat the way mixer and display monitor is build in the wall and as for the citronic amp it's good for light disco/pa and or in this case home usage. I would say spacing out them speaker's a little more would give wider coverage to the sound instead of coming from one point in the room.
