Default Electronic & electricity course book?

Guys, I'm looking for an introductory course book in electronics and electricity that builds from the ground up. It would be nice if it had lab projects that I could scrounge together locally. I thought the Basic Electronics and Electricity course that I went through in the Navy 25 years ago was pretty good (I did really well in it), but I haven't used that knowledge in about 20 years.

These books are some that I'm looking at. I looked at The Art of Electronics, but it didn't seem like the place to start (more like a great resource after).

Amazon.com: Getting Started in Electronics (9780945053286): Forrest M. Mims III: Books

Amazon.com: Grob: Basic Electronics (Electronics Books Series) (9780028022536): Bernard Grob: Books

Amazon.com: All New Electronics Self-Teaching Guide (Wiley Self Teaching Guides) (9780470289617): Harry Kybett, Earl Boysen: Books

Amazon.com: Make: Electronics (Learning by Discovery) (9780596153748): Charles Platt: Books

Amazon.com: Teach Yourself Electricity and Electronics, Fourth Edition (9780071459334): Stan Gibilisco: Books

A new edition of the Art of Electronics by H&H is due out at the end of June. If I get this book, I'll wait for the newest edition to be released.
